Winning Attitude 15: Nurture Your Creativity

We are all born with creative abilities and can easily thrive with a little bit of nurturing. We can surpass our natural limitations given the right environment and support system. Although some people have been raised to believe that creativity is a genius gem that only a few possess, I totally believe otherwise. Any human being that is fully developed has the ability to creatively thing and create; it is an inborn ability that is part of who we are as human beings. Anyone with the ability to imagine has creative abilities.

Your brain has 10 billion cells, each of which is connected to as many as 20,000 other cells by a complex network of neurons and dendrites. This means that the possible combinations and permutations of cells in your brain are greater than the number of molecules in the known universe. Your ability to develop ideas to help you succeed is unlimited. This means that your ability to succeed is unlimited as well.

Your brain, your creativity, is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger and more resilient it becomes. You can actually increase your intelligence and your IQ by disciplining yourself to think creatively all day long. And remember, creativity is just another word for “improvement.” Every time you come up with an idea to improve some part of your work, to find newer, better, faster, cheaper, or easier ways to accomplish a result, you are functioning at the highest level of creativity. Just as you develop your muscles by straining them with physical training, you develop your mental muscles by straining them as well.

I guess our biggest challenge with nurturing creativity is not the lack of creative ability but rather the discipline to stretch ourselves beyond pre set boundaries. In simple terms, many people don’t want to stretch their minds, don’t bother to think outside the box and would rather not rock the boat by challenging the status quo. Everything around us is a byproduct of some level of creative thinking. You will only get paid for the problems you get to solve for others and unless you get into the system of generating exceptional solutions you will live and die in the rat race of life trying to break even.
The more you nurture your creativity, the higher your earning ability becomes. No doubt we all want to become rich and that comes by going beyond the usual to unearth exceptional solutions to world challenges. The more you focus your mind on achieving your goals, solving your problems, or answering the tough questions about your business and personal life, the smarter you become and the better your mind works for you in the future.

Unearth your potential by continually stretching your mental limits. Challenge yourself to solve unusual problems and the more you do, the better you will become at it. This same principle can cut across family life, relationships and even business. People that build a reputation for creating solutions will tend to attract more people both in the form of friends and customers. Start working your creativity muscles and don’t stop until you can use them at will.
